{"manuscript_title":"<b>Does social media presence matter? Evidence from CEO forced departures</b>","abstract":"We explore the role of CEOs' social media presence in moderating the likelihood of forced turnover following poor firm performance. Grounded in market signaling theory, our findings suggest that CEOs with a social media presence are significantly less likely to be dismissed following poor or volatile return on asset (ROA) performance compared to their peers with no social media presence. Social media presence enables CEOs to signal sincerity and increases investors’ confidence in their abilities, which helps buffer them against negative perceptions during periods of poor or uncertain firm performance. This highlights the strategic importance of social media in enhancing executive job security. This study contributes to the literature on CEO turnover, the influence of signaling personality traits on executive outcomes, and the growing role of social media in modern corporate governance.","keywords":["Market signaling theory","CEO social media presence","CEO forced turnover","Strategic management"]}
